The National Wellness Institute defines wellness as:"....a process of becoming aware of and making choices toward a more successful existence."
Wellness is a way of life and an integration of mind, body, spirit and environment. It focuses on optimal wellbeing in every area of your life including: love, self-responsibility, eating & nutrition, moving(physical activity), feeling, thinking, playing, working, communication, intimacy and finding meaning.

Wellness has to do with conscious living. You become aware that you don't have to run your life on automatic pilot. We can turn off our TV, computers and phones. We can notice how our food tastes, read labels and notice how good it feels when our body moves in a healthy way. We can connect with others, reduce our sense of isolation and enjoy the beauty of nature.
You learn how to work and play with passion and balance.
As a health-care professional, I can tell you that to create wellness in your life, you don't have to be perfect. You just start where you are right now and move forward.
